ONE GLAD DAY(*)

          Today is a “glad day.” It is both an ending, and in reality, a hopeful new beginning. You’ve been “working and waiting” these last months and years in your “old reality” to create the “new reality” you are sitting in today. We could talk about the past which you are beginning to be an expert in! But that’s the past. Now let’s look at your “now” future which you have been preparing for.

          Whether you knew it or not when you started the 50/50 Work, you have been training “to learn how to sing.” This, of course, is a metaphor for becoming an open channel for God to speak to you and through you. The Guide told us this “enchanting” experience is what we incarnated for. This is your “now” future. This is what you have been waiting for.

 

          Your work has prepared you for this “glad day.” You are now ready to turn to your channel to discover what you need to know about life or yourself for every small and big issue where you need help. This instruction from your own Godself is truly comparable to the “music of the angels in its glory,” says the Guide. In fact, “it can be quite literally the music of the angels that fills you!” The beloved Gandhi called it “hearing the Voice.” He said “Everyone who wills can hear the Voice. It is within everyone but like everything else, it requires previous and definite preparation.”

​

          You definitely are preparing by doing the work! However, when you started, most of you didn’t know that you had a “song” within you that needed “to be sung.” Nevertheless, you arrived eager and full of longing for something. But you also arrived “full” of fear. Full of defenses to protect you from those fears. Full of the misconceptions that create those fears.

​

          Then, you spent the next months and years learning to face your fears and go through them. You’re learning how to let go of your defenses and discover you “give up nothing” to be “empty.” You’ve been learning how to uncover and challenge your misconceptions about yourself, others, and life. And you’re learning the art of giving up your demands and expectations while being expectant in realizing your deepest longings. As you discover that you have choices, you delve into your lower self and open up to your higher self and the “spirit of music” within you.

​

          As you “sing” and come into harmony with yourself, you’ll know what it’s like to play above and below the scales. Even now, at times your ear has quickened far beyond its present range of hearing. You can hear now, not only music of the spheres, but you may be able to discern at times musical tones in what now seems to be merely noise. Perhaps even in the traffic of the street, you will catch a deep musical tone. When you are in perfect harmony in your thoughts, you will hear music everywhere. The Guide says even energy has an auditory expression. The sounds of emanating consciousness, if the entity is highly developed, are extremely beautiful and harmonious.

​

          You may be delighted to know that birds set up vibrations which promote the growth of the young tender leaves by their singing in the early spring. When the leaves are all out the birds’ songs end, except at twilight and at dawn.

​

          This gradual process “of learning to sing” depends on your willingness to open your heart. It seems to require a special kind of courage to open your heart. You have to be willing to risk the imaginary dangers to feel with your heart – to feel yourself, your lovingness, your vulnerability, the beauty of creation, and the endearingness of others who struggle in their attempt to find the light.

​

          The more you open yourself to these finer vibrations, the more important it is for you to choose friends and surroundings that support your heart’s opening. Ask for guidance in this area. Will the guidance. Then it will be given to you, wiser and more magnificent than you can imagine. Only by your experience will you really be able to fathom the wisdom and magnificence of such guidance.

​

          Each time you prepare to open your channel for guidance, imagine being thrilled at the prospect. For instance, if you knew that right now you were about to be ushered into the presence of Buddha or Moses or Jesus, to what extent would your spiritual expectancy be aroused? No doubt you would be thrilled through and through at the mere thought. Feel this same intense interest, this same concern, as you approach the divine presence within yourself.

​

          Make time for approaching the divine presence within yourself. Some people say that one way of connecting with our power and wisdom is by going alone to a quiet place and very gently calling our own name over and over. Uttering your name creates a form which acts as a “receiving station” for certain powers to play through it.

​

          Now, let’s pause and close your eyes and find that quiet place within you and gently say your name out loud. (Pause.) Now say it again. (Pause.) Let’s say it once more.

​

          Finally, when you doubt, when you forget “to sing” -- as you will -- remember 50/50(!) and these words spoken by a wise teacher:

 

                                                  “There are some who ride on white chargers

                                                    and leap over the moon. There are others who

                                                    plod along a muddy road on their own two feet

                                                    often slipping back in a day, as far as they have

                                                    advanced in the past month. But both sorts of

                                                    travelers arrive at the same place in the end.”

 

          You have come a long way. And now, we celebrate with you another beginning -- your “now” future. Some of you will become 50/50 helpers. Some of you will go on your spiritual merry way. But whatever direction you take, never end your longing for the “enchanting” experience of “singing your song”.
